Mission:
Facilitate and support artists' research and creative practice.
Foster collaborative endeavors between artists and researchers.
Develop public programs that enhance public awareness and engagement with creative research across various disciplines.
Utilize the gallery space as an active hub for experimentation, production, and public involvement.
Fellowships:
The Centre for Arts, Research and Culture administers a research fellowship program in partnership with universities, galleries, and other collaborators. These fellowships are predicated on the notion of artists' practice as long-term research, offering substantial and sustained support to artists outside the traditional exhibition and commissioning models.
Each fellowship encompasses a dedicated research period for the selected artist, complemented by a series of public events aimed at investigating and supporting their chosen research area.
Fellowships are granted by invitation and typically span 6 to 12 months. The Centre for Arts, Research and Culture also welcomes project proposals from artists seeking to expand their practice through new research initiatives. Proposals should include an artist's statement and an overview of the proposed project and research domain. Prior to submission, please ensure to contact CARC for consultation.
Projects:
In addition to the fellowships, the Centre for Arts, Research and Culture curates and produces a diverse range of exhibitions, events, and performances in collaboration with partners across the UK. The projects program actively engages with galleries and arts organizations, facilitating large-scale events that emphasize experimentation and the development of new creative works.
Research:
The CARC research program serves as a dynamic resource, amalgamating fresh ideas, research findings, critical thinking, and innovative practices from our program, partners, and the broader research community. This program seeks to establish meaningful connections between our projects and various disciplines. This is accomplished through our online archive of projects and publications, the commissioning of new written works, and the organization of live events, symposia, and conferences.
We are presently accepting article and essay submissions that align with the themes of our projects for online publication. If you wish to submit, kindly forward a brief biography and a copy of your text to info@artrescen.org.uk.
